Are you familiar with Florida Pedestrian Laws? Safety Doesn’t Happen by Accident

main_pictureDid you know that Florida has twice the national average of pedestrian fatalities? Did you also know that 1 in 20 traffic fatalities is a bicyclist? Between 2008 and 2012, more than 2,450 pedestrians died in traffic crashes in Florida; 8,143 were seriously injured. During the same time frame, 530 bicyclists died in Florida traffic crashes.

In an effort to raise awareness and decrease fatalities of bicyclists and pedestrians, the Florida Department of Transportation along with the Town of Davie Police Department are championing Florida’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Focused Initiative.

The safety and well-being of NSU students, faculty, staff, and visitors is of paramount importance to our university. Stay informed about safety while walking or riding bicycles by reviewing Florida Pedestrian Laws.
