Portrait of a Photographer:  A Lecture by Bette Marshall

Bette Marshall, a transplant to South Florida from New York City, has been a portrait photographer for the past 25 years. Her photographs of actors, musicians, artists and corporate leaders have appeared in publications such as Time, Newsweek, Life, People, Vogue, and Elle, as well as on CD covers and corporate annual reports.  Her work has been exhibited in galleries in New York and Tokyo and is included in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum.

During this program, Bette will share anecdotes revealing both the challenges and humorous situations that develop when photographing personalities ranging from James Earl Jones, Jason Robards and Willem Dafoe to artists like Lee Krasner and Larry Rivers, and to musicians such as Loretta Lynn, Tim McGraw, Judy Collins and Marilyn Horne.  Bette will also present a unique look at a very young and innocent Whiney Houston, including the late singer’s first audition for a record label.

Please join us for an entertaining afternoon with Bette, who we are pleased to say is now teaching portrait photography in our Art Academy.  FREE and open to the public.  Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis.
