Third Annual Interdisciplinary Geriatrics Symposium Held at NSU

Joan Weiss, Ph.D., R.N., CRNP, director of the Division of Diversity and Interdisciplinary Education at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA); Leonard Levy, D.P.M., M.P.H., College of Osteopathic Medicine associate dean and director of NSU’s Center for All-Hazards Bioterrorism and All-Hazards Preparedness; Naushira Pandya, M.D., CMD, associate professor and the chair of the Department of Geriatrics at the College of Osteopathic Medicine; Cecilia Rokusek; Ed.D., R.D., executive director of education, planning, and research at the College of Osteopathic Medicine and program manager, as well as the project manager for NSU’s Center for Bioterrorism and All-Hazards Preparedness.

NSU College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Geriatrics Education Center (GEC) hosted the 3rd Annual Interdisciplinary Geriatrics Symposium at the Health Professions Division on Apr. 24.

The symposium covered topics such as health policy and economics, clinical practice challenges, public health, and mental and psychological problems in aging. One of the presenters at the symposium was Joan Weiss, Ph.D., R.N., CRNP, director of the Division of Diversity and Interdisciplinary Education at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Weiss spoke about the new era of inter-professional geriatric education.
