Alvin Sherman’s World War II Memorabilia on Display at NSU Library
NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library recently received a unique collection of World War II memorabilia from Mr. Alvin Sherman, the namesake of the university’s main library.
Sherman was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Forces serving as a B-17 pilot. A veteran of 295 combat flying hours in 35 missions, he was recognized for his meritorious service and honored with several awards including the Distinguished Flying Cross. His collection, including his uniform, flight jacket, medals and log book, are among the items on display in the library atrium through May 2012.
