Alvin Sherman Library Sponsors Free Family Concert, Dec. 6

milkshakemusicWho says libraries are just about books? Enjoy an effervescent, interactive, FREE kids’ rock concert sponsored by the Alvin Sherman Library. Children and families rock out with Milkshake, an Emmy-winning and Grammy-nominated band, on Saturday, December 6, 2 – 3pm. Pick up FREE tickets (while supplies last) at the Public Library Services desk starting Monday, November 17.

The library will have an afternoon of entertainment in honor of NSU’s 50th Anniversary – stop by the library for Winter Crafts starting at 1. Then, join the crowd “next door” at the Miniaci Theater (seating will begin around 1:45). Milkshake is a band on a mission: to create great rock music for kids. Led by singer Lisa Mathews and guitarist Mikel Gehl, whose songs for grown-ups have been featured in movies and prime-time television, Milkshake has won over children without compromising song-craft, stagecraft or their authentic rock & roll spirit. Milkshake’s music has appeared on Noggin, PBS Kids and Discovery Kids. With tuneful, memorable songs that evoke influences from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Lennon-McCartney to The White Stripes, Milkshake creates music that appeals to both kids and their parents. Call 954-262-5477 for details.
