Alvin Sherman Library Continues Cine Argentino Film Series and Exhibit
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Alvin Sherman Library will host a free art exhibit and film series.
The exhibit, entitled “Masters and New Generation: From Venezuela and Argentina” features the work of eight Venezuelan and Argentinian artists including a selection from the collection of the Ascaso Gallery located in the Wynwood Arts District in Miami, curated by Adriana Bianco. The exhibit will be on display through Friday, October 14, and will be held in the NSU Alvin Sherman Library Cotilla Gallery on the second floor.
The remaining films to be shown for the Argentinean “Cine Argentino Film Festival” includes two film screenings taking place at 2 p.m. on Sundays in September. Films will be shown in the Performance Theatre of the Don Taft University Center on NSU’s main campus, at 3301 College Ave. Argentine actress and journalist Adriana Bianco will introduce the films and provide commentary.
Sunday, September 18 at 2 pm: De Navíos, Ron y Chocolate
Documentary of the Corsican immigrants who arrived in Venezuela and the Caribbean during the 18th century. 90 m. Directed by Malena Roncayolo. In Spanish only, no English subtitles.
Sunday, September 25 at 2 pm: Desnudo Con Naranjas
Historical film which narrates the love affair between a white woman and an indigenous man during the Federal War of Venezuela in the 19th century. 100 m. Directed by Luis Alberto Lamata. In Spanish only, no English subtitles.
