Alvin Sherman Library Continues Cine Argentino Film Series and Exhibit

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the NSU Alvin Sherman Library will host a free art exhibit and film series. The exhibit entitled “The Artists’ Vision of Ecuador and Argentina” features the work of artists including Luis Wells, Julio Montaner, E & F Project, Julio Chuquimarca and Nicolas Leiva and is curated by Adriana Bianco. The exhibit will be on display through Sunday, September 2, in the NSU Alvin Sherman Library Cotilla Gallery on the second floor.

The “Cine Argentino Film Festival” includes four film screenings taking place at 2 p.m. on Sundays in September. Films will be shown in the Performance Theatre of the Don Taft University Center on NSU’s main campus, at 3301 College Ave. Argentine actress and journalist Adriana Bianco will introduce the films and provide commentary.

Sunday, September 2 at 2 pm: Merdardo

Inspired by the brief and yet intense life of Ecuadorian poet Medardo Ángel Silva, this movie reveals intimate details of one of the most important Guayaquilean writers of 19th century. 2015, 1 hr. 34 min. English Subtitles

Sunday, September 9 at 2 pm: Linda Sara

Facing financial ruin, four siblings decide to sell the valuables within their mother’s house, without telling her and by embellishing their history. Comedy, Drama, Romance. 1994, 1 hr. 47 minutes. No subtitles.

Sunday, September 16 at 2 pm:  PANCHO VILLA

Presented by Discovery and the Director of the Cultural Institute of Mexico. 45 minutes each. Subtitles

Sunday, September 23 at 2 pm: Lifting de Corazón

A plastic surgeon (Pep Munné) falls for his new assistant (Mariana Anghileri), while his wife (María Barranco) seeks help from a psychiatrist. 2005:1 hr. 33 min.  Subtitles
