Alumni and Students Recognized for Contributions to Nursing Tuition Back Scholarship

waiting on names

Bridget Guerrero( Donor/student), Dean Rutherford, Valerie Terlingo (Donor/Student), Evelyn Tejada (Donor).

NSU’s College of Nursing Dean Marcella Rutherford recently recognized alumni and students for their contributions to the Nursing Tuition Back Scholarship. The College of Nursing (CON) was the first in the United States to implement school level awards for the national scholarship.  The scholarship competition is open to every undergraduate nursing student in the country and provides the winner his or her tuition back for a specific course.

Alumni and students were inspired to create awards that specifically recognize NSU’s high scoring students in the national competition. NSU nursing students Valerie Terlingo and Bridget Gurerro along with alumni Evelyn Tejada (1997) and Sandra Brown (1991) each made contributions to award and recognize their NSU scholars.

The curriculum based scholarship competition was developed by the Fischler School of Education’s Common Knowledge Scholarship office and is based on a series of competitive online quizzes scored on time and accuracy. Students are rewarded for studying and demonstrating what they have learned in their classes. It is a unique program that allows students to compete for scholarships by studying for their courses
