Acta Non Verba: Marielle Plaisir, Feb. 2
February 2 At 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Acta Non Verba: Marielle Plaisir, Thursday, Feb. 2, 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
In her performance piece Acta Non Verba, multimedia artist Marielle Plaisir exposes the ambivalent character of clothing and its conventions. While dressed in colonialist era costume and remaining seated in the Museum’s Regeneration Series: Anselm Kiefer from the Hall Collection exhibition for multiple hours, Plaisir will raise issues of being and appearing, domination, discrimination, and injustices relating to status and race. Born in France and raised in the French colony, Guadeloupe, she combines painting, drawing, and performance art to present intense visual experiences. Since 2000, she has explored the notion of identity from a Caribbean viewpoint.
This performance is free as part of Free First Thursdays Starry Nights presented by PNC Bank.
