Accepted Student Day Draws Record Crowd

Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Office of Undergraduate Admissions hosted “Accepted Student Day” for new Sharks who will join NSU in the fall 2013 term. A record crowd of more than 130 students, along with 144 family members, were welcomed by President George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D., for a day of special events geared to prepare the families for the transition to college.

Students met with academic advisors to register for courses and sampled special classes presented by the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, and the Abraham S. Fischler School of Education. Parents attended a faculty panel and met with representatives to learn about financial aid, campus safety, residential life and career opportunities after graduation.

A highlight of the day for many was the “Shark Baiting” session. Much like popular “speed dating” events, current NSU Career and Student Ambassadors, athletes, and Razor’s Edge and President’s 64 members met with the incoming students in a rotating question and answer period.
