9th Annual CommunityFest brings together NSU Students, Faculty, Staff & their Families

NSU recently hosted its 9th Annual CommunityFest at Gold Circle Lake bringing together hundreds of students, faculty, staff and their friends and families, who participated in the carnival’s fun and festivities.

With more than 95 booths, 17 exciting attractions including a giant Shark Slide, and an array of delicious foods sponsored by local restaurants, this year’s event was a huge success.

New to CommunityFest this year was the “Power Over Pain Walk” held at 10 a.m. on NSU’s Library Quad. The event was sponsored on behalf of CommunityFest and the Student’s for Prevention, Intervention and Response to Emergencies (NSPIRE). The idea to host the walk was spearheaded by the student organization in hopes of educating others and bringing awareness to those who suffer from chronic pain-related illnesses.

This year’s entertainment took a new “swing” as audience members had the chance to select their choice songs during RadioX’s tribute to the iconic music of the past decades. The DJ talents of Ebony Griffin and Alex Weiss were well received as they hosted the program, which showcased the student talent of NSU’s Cheerleaders, Vocal Ensemble and the Sharkettes dance troupe. The crowd also enjoyed the live musical stylings of Paul Baker and the Civilians, making this year’s lineup particularly memorable.

If you missed this year’s event, we hope to see you next year at CommunityFest! Click here to view more photos.
