Erin Black and Oskar Nordstrand

NSU swimmers Erin Black (Sr., Fort Myers, Fla.) and Oskar Nordstrand (Sr., Stockholm, Sweden) have been named Sunshine State Conference Swimmers of the Week for their efforts at the Shark Invitational.

Black tallied three individual victories and five NCAA Division-II Championship qualifying times at the NSU Shark Invitational. Black won the 200-yard freestyle with a meet-record time of 1:50.62, which meets the NCAA “B” qualification standard. Nevertheless, she also clocked an automatic qualifying time of 1:50.11 in her 200-yard leadoff leg of the 800 freestyle relay, which the Sharks won in meet-record fashion. Black claimed the 500-yard freestyle with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 4:54.01. She didn’t stop there, cruising to another automatic qualifying time in the 1,000-yard freestyle, which she completed in 10:04.57.

Her times in both the 500 and 1,000 established new meet records. Black additionally tallied “B” standard times in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:30.92) and 200-yard backstroke (2:05.13), placing fourth in both events. Complete Release
