NSU Student-Athlete Named SSC Golfer of the Week

Abbey Gittings

Nova Southeastern women’s golfer Abbey Gittings (Jr., Tamworth, England), the top-ranked golfer in the NCAA Division-II, has been named Sunshine State Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week, as recently announced by the conference office.

Gittings grabbed her first individual win of the spring, placing first of 66 golfers at Rollins’ Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational. She fired a three-round score of 222 (76-73-73) to lead the Sharks to a first-place finish in the 12-team field. Gittings won the tournament due to her consistent play. While windy conditions caused most of the golfers in the field to drop off significantly in the final round, Gittings was not affected by the conditions and replicated her lowest round of the tournament.

Gittings’ performance allowed her to move up into the top spot in the NCAA Division II national rankings. The Sharks still have three golfers in the national top five. Read Complete Release.
