2016 Intramural Basketball Championship Winners
NSU Recreation and Wellness recognizes the three intramural teams that won the 5v5 Basketball Championships in each of their respective leagues. The intramural basketball championship games took place on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Arena at the Don Taft University Center.
The first championship of the night went to Flexual Healing for winning the Men’s Recreational championship game in a well fought battle against Annexation of Puerto Rico. Flexual Healing finished with an undefeated overall record of 8-0-1. When these two teams met in the regular season, a winner couldn’t be decided, as the game ended in a tie, proving that Annexation of Puerto Rico was the only team that could match up with Flexual Healing. Flexual Healing was captained by Bradley Puglisi and represented NSU’s Physical Therapy class of ‘18 graduate program.
The most exciting game of the night was when OD1’s beat D1’s in an overtime thriller for the Men’s Competitive championship game. Team Captain Brian Wood led his team to a 3-1 regular season record, earning them the top seed in the ultra-intense Men’s Competitive league. The teams needed more than just the first 40 minutes of play to determine a winner, but in the end, OD1’s pulled through with clutch foul shooting, and strong defense.
The Co-Rec Recreational championship game featured two teams representing NSU’s Physical Therapy graduate program. The class of ‘17’s Palpation Temptation versus the class of ‘18’s Flexual Healing. Palpation Temptation’s Joe Daniels proved too strong for any matchup, dominating the inside paint, as well as hitting several shots from the deep 3-point range. The friendly rivalry between these two teams was the perfect ending to a competitive 2016 Intramural basketball season.
NSU Recreation and Wellness also recognizes the intramural officials who officiated the three championship games. These hand-selected individuals earned their spots in the big games due to their hard work and improvements made throughout the 4-week season. The entire Recreation and Wellness department would like to thank all of the dedicated players that participated throughout this basketball season
