Start! NSU Hosts Broward County Heart Walk, Mar. 19
As the American Heart Association’s signature event, the Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a family fun environment. This year over 1 million walkers will participate in more than 500 events, raising funds to save lives from this country’s No. 1 and no. 3 killers, heart disease and stroke.
Who: The Broward County Heart Walk is for everyone. The majority of walkers are employees of companies who have committed to participate in the Broward County Heart Walk to promote a healthy lifestyle among their employees, build a collaborative, team-oriented work environment and give back to Broward County as a good corporate citizen. This year, the American Heart Association anticipates between 8,000 to 10,000 attendees at the Start! Broward County Heart Walk.
When: Saturday, March 19 —Activities Begin at 8 a.m., Walk begins at 9 a.m.
Festivities such as special children’s activities, health screenings and entertainment, begin around 8 a.m. The 5K walk begins at 9 a.m. Lunch is provided for all walkers when they return from the walk route.
Where: Nova Southeastern University main campus
It is easy to participate in the Broward County Heart Walk! Once your company is committed to participate, American Heart Association staff works with you to insure your company
has a great experience. As an individual you can sign up to walk as well. We encourage all walkers to raise a minimum of $200 that will go towards cardiovascular research.
