No. 1 Women’s Golf Coach Brown Named National Coach of the Year; Team Earns Record Four All-America Nods

Linnea Johansson

The No. 1 NSU women’s golf team has reached a new milestone, setting the WGCA record for most All-America First Team members in a single season. Also, head coach Amanda Brown won her first Division II Eaton Golf Pride WGCA National Coach of the Year award.

Brown, in her second season as head coach, has once again led the Sharks to the brink of a national championship. She helped bring the program’s mark to four All-Americans by recruiting the nation’s No. 2 player in Linnea Johansson (Fr., Faxjo, Sweden) and helped make the Sharks’ roster arguably the deepest it has ever been with the addition of Rachel Lewis (Jr., Cardiff, Wales), who enters the final round of nationals in the top-50. Brown then led her squad to six wins in 10 tournaments this year.

Johansson leads the field of All-Americans this season, with a team-best stroke average of 74 flat. Johansson was previously named Sunshine State Conference Player and Freshman of the Year after winning two tournaments and making seven top-5 appearances in 10 chances. She leads the field at nationals heading into the final round. Complete Release
