NSU’s Fischler School of Education Fires Up Students with Miami HEAT Tickets

On April 8, 69 students from three Miami-Dade elementary schools will experience first hand how good grades can pay off.


Carrie P. Meek Outstanding Education Leadership Achievement Awards

Nova Southeastern University’s Black Heritage Council will celebrate Black History Month with a salute to the woman known as the prominent voice in the Haitian American community and to the man referred to by his peers as the turnaround principal in Broward County.

The Fourth Annual Carrie P. Meek Outstanding Education Leadership Achievements Awards will honor Gepsie Metellus, director of the Sant La Haitian Neighborhood Center, and Ramon Dawkins, principal of Sunland Park Elementary School.


DCF Secretary Bob Butterworth to speak at Foster Child Conference at NSU

Florida Department of Children & Families Secretary Bob Butterworth will discuss strategies to improve the lives of foster children Thursday (Feb 14) at a youth empowerment conference at Nova Southeastern University (NSU).

Butterworth will be making his remarks at the conference, called Fostering Success: Strategies to Empower Youth to Succeed as Adults.


Educational Research Symposium to be held at Nova Southeastern University

Nova Southeastern University’s Health Profession’s Division will be holding its 2nd annual Health Professional Educational Research Symposium this weekend.

The conference, which will run from Jan. 18 to 20, will engage health care faculty from around the country in a discussion about educational research and teaching in the health professions. It will be held at NSU’s Health Professions Divisions (HPD), which consists of six colleges —- osteopathic medicine, optometry, dental medicine, medical sciences, pharmacy and allied health and nursing.


Advertising Executive and Entrepreneur Jordan Zimmerman to Speak at Nova Southeastern University’s Business School

Jordan Zimmerman, founder and chairman of Zimmerman Advertising and part-owner of the NHL’s Florida Panthers, will speak at Nova Southeastern University’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship on Feb. 4 as part of the Business School’s Distinguished Lecture Series.

The free public lecture will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Julian and Ellen Knight Lecture Hall in the Carl DeSantis Building, located on NSU’s main campus (3301 College Avenue).


Governor Appoints NSU Dean of Diversity To State Minority Teachers Board

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is proud to announce the appointment of Delores M. Smiley, Ed.D, to the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers (FFMT) Board of Directors.

Smiley, who serves as Dean of Community Education and Diversity Affairs at NSU’s Fischler of Education and Human Services, has been appointed to the board for a three-year term by Florida Governor Charlie Crist.

The Alvin Sherman Library, Research and Information Technology Center at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and the Broward County Cultural Division are hosting a workshop on Jan. 19 to assist artists of all disciplines with preparing effective proposals for project-based grant funding.


Saperstein Appointed Director of Career Development at NSU

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) has appointed Shari Saperstein as director of career development.

In her role, Saperstein will work with academic departments, graduate and professional programs, and employers to form strategic partnerships that support career planning and preparation for NSU students and alumni.


NSU to Honor Dan and Claire Marino with President’s Community Award at Celebration of Excellence

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will award Dan and Claire Marino with the university’s highest honor, the President’s Community Award, at NSU’s annual Celebration of Excellence on Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. The President’s Community Award is bestowed annually to individuals whose leadership and support provides the foundation for continued growth of the university.


Nova Southeastern University uses High-Tech Dental Imaging Machine

Nova Southeastern University’s College of Dental Medicine (NSU-CDM) announced Thursday it’s using a three dimensional imaging machine to perform cutting-edge dental surgeries that will reduce patients’ exposure to radiation, while saving them time and money.
