Child Soldiers in Northern Uganda Topic of Forum at NSU

Showing of documentary “Invisible Children” and discussion on Oct. 8

FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla.—The documentary film Invisible Children: Rough Cut, which examined the plight of children in northern Uganda abducted and forced into war, and a discussion on the issue will be featured at Nova Southeastern University on Oct. 8 at 6 p.m.

The free, public event will be held in the performing arts theatre in the Don Taft University Center on NSU’s main campus at 3301 College Ave.

Invisible Children was created by three college students and brought attention to children in northern Uganda abducted and forced to become soldiers. After the release of the film in 2005, a nonprofit organization by the same name was formed. Invisible Children has become a growing movement in support of children in northern Uganda through programs to rebuild schools and provide scholarships.

Representatives from Invisible Children will attend the screening at NSU and lead the discussion following the film. More information on Invisible Children is available at www.invisiblechildren.com.

In addition, a photo exhibit of Uganda will be on display with pictures from NSU students Philipp Krömer and Anny Debooth, who volunteered in Uganda this summer rebuilding a school. Both students will also speak on their experiences. Photos from their can be viewed at http://www.paul-bk.com/rwork/IMG_3438.html.

More information on the event at NSU is available by calling (786) 546-0718 or emailing me402@nova.edu.
