Your South Florida – Reinstating Felons’ Voting Rights

According to a Federal Judge, Florida’s ban on ex-felons voting is unconstitutional and biased. The current system to reinstate ex-felon’s voting rights makes them wait 5-7 years prior to going before a clemency board. The judge gave the governor until April 26th to reform the current program.
In a recent interview with Your South Florida PBS, Charles Zelden, Ph.D., professor of History and Political Science, NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, explained the pros and cons of this controversial program, and what changing it could mean for future elections.
