Women in Technology Seminar set at Nova Southeastern University for Friday, Feb. 23
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FORT LAUDERDALE/DAVIE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) College of Engineering and Computing will hold its first Women in Technology seminar Friday, Feb. 23, in collaboration with sponsors Ultimate Software, Chen Moore, LexisNexis, Align Innovation, Modernizing Medicine and FPL. The seminar, for students and people in the industry, is part of events celebrating Engineering and Technology Week as presented by the NSU Student Government Association.
The seminar, to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. in the Carl DeSantis Building, includes panel and round table networking and mentoring conversations with successful women from the sponsoring technology companies for the benefit of those just entering or considering the field.
“This is an exciting opportunity for seminar participants to learn from successful women in technology fields,” said Dr. Marti Snyder of NSU’s College of Engineering and Computing.
“We need more women who can serve as role models and mentors for those who are interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), she said,” Not even 1 in 5 STEM students are women according to the publication Women in STEM. The National Center for Women in Technology & Information says less than a quarter of high management positions in the STEM fields are held by women.
