Will Gas, Food Prices Rise in South Florida Because Of Hurricane Harvey?

Hurricane Harvey has inflicted much human damage since Friday, and now its aftermath is causing economic harm. The effects of this natural disaster could have an economic impact in South Florida. In a recent interview with Local 10, Albert Williams, Ph.D., associate professor at NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business & Entrepreneurship talked about the possible effects of Harvey in South Florida.
“Gas prices have gone up slightly, but it’s only temporary. If we are paying $2.35 right now, maybe expect $2.50. But we don’t expect that to last perhaps another two or three months,” said Dr. Albert Williams.
Dr. Williams also said people shouldn’t be too worried about food prices rising, as well.
