This Past Month’s Highlights of NSU In The News

February was a special month for Nova Southeastern University as we continued to celebrate our 50^thAnniversary with milestone events, such as Celebration of Excellence, the groundbreaking of the Center for Collaborative Research (CCR) and numerous exhibits, lectures and activities surrounding Black History Month. The CCR and our new supercomputer, Magalodon, appeared in media locally and nationally hitting business, education and information systems media.

The opening of “Witness to History: The Photography of Ernest Withers,” an exhibit of more than 75 historical works that document the Civil Rights movement of the 1950’s and 1960’s (closes March 16) in the Alvin Sherman Library received coverage in numerous local media including a cover story in theSun-Sentinel. The tracking by NSU Oceanographic Center researchers of a male mako shark heading unusually straight south was picked up by media around the world.

In fact, in February, NSU stories were circulated to nearly 1.5 billion viewers across the globe and your Public Affairs team placed stories in the media with an estimated advertising value equivalency of $13.5 million.
