South Florida Health Care Executive to Speak at NSU Commencement
Linda Quick will address 694 graduating NSU allied health and nursing students
FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, FL— Linda Quick, president of the South Florida Hospital & Healthcare Association, will be the keynote speaker at Nova Southeastern University’s commencement on Sunday, Aug. 29.
The ceremony, where 694 students from the College of Allied Health and Nursing will receive their degrees, will take place at The Arena at NSU’s Don Taft University Center, located at NSU’s main campus in Davie. The ceremony will start at 2 p.m.
Quick will be speaking about health care topics that impact health care providers and patients. Some of those include the new federal health care law, patient expectations, how health care providers should behave when they are off duty, and broader definitions of diversity in health care, such as having diverse opinions and different ways of treating patients.
In her position with the South Florida Hospital & Healthcare Association, Quick oversees activities working with over 50 hospitals and 100 additional members in Broward, Dade, Palm Beach, Monroe, and St. Lucie counties. Her organization provides advocacy at the local, state, and national levels and educational programs for management and staff.
Linda is also president of the South Florida Hospital Research and Education Foundation. In that role, she raises funds to support an annual seminar on contemporary health care issues.
During her career, Linda has assisted the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, the Florida Department of Children and Families, and the Florida Department of Elder Affairs with special projects at the state, regional, and district levels.
She is an authority on all aspects of South Florida’s health and human services systems. These areas include neonatal intensive care to developments in hospice care; hospital-based psychiatric service to alternatives to hospitalization; community-based health policy planning and coordination efforts; and other areas.
