Robert Brooks, Ph.D., to Deliver Address at 2010 Graduate Commencement Ceremony

Leading Motivational Speaker on Resilience, Self-Esteem, and Family Relationships to Address Graduates on June 12

FT. LAUDERDALE (DAVIE), Fla. – Robert Brooks, Ph.D., will be the keynote speaker at Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) 2010 graduate commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 12, beginning at 4 p.m. in the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise.

The commencement ceremony will award degrees to students from several of NSU’s graduate degree programs at the Center for Psychological Studies, Criminal Justice Institute, Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, and Oceanographic Center. The public is invited to attend.

Dr. Robert Brooks

Brooks, a faculty member at Harvard University’s medical school, has lectured nationally and internationally to audiences of parents, educators, mental health professionals, and business people on topics pertaining to motivation, resilience, self-esteem, family relationships, the qualities of effective leaders and executives, and balancing personal and professional lives. He has also written extensively about these topics and is the author or co-author of 14 books, including The Charismatic Advisor: Becoming a Source of Strength in the Lives of Your Clients; Raising a Self-Disciplined Child: Help Your Child Become More Responsible, Confident, and Resilient; and The Power of Resilience: Achieving Balance, Confidence, and Personal Strength in Your Life.

A Gubernatorial Award recipient for Distinguished Public Service, Brooks has received several awards for his service to community, including the “Distinguished Leadership Award” from Learning Disabilities Worldwide in recognition of his contributions and commitment to the field of learning disabilities and the “Hall of Fame” awards from both CH.A.D.D. (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorders) and the Connecticut Association for Children with Learning Disabilities for his work with special needs children and adolescents
