Raising the Bar: Young Girl Reunites With Stranger Who Inspired Her

Cynthia Duval, J.D., Associate Director of Career and Professional Development at NSU’s Shepard Broad College of Law, recently surprised a girl she inspired fourteen years ago on her graduation day.
It all started when Ahjane Bowman was 15 and stopped by the U.S. Court of Appeals in Miami to visit her dad, who worked as a security guard. She noticed a woman and was completely drawn to her. Ahjane told her dad she wanted to meet her. The woman turned out to be Dr. Cynthia Duval. They only spoke for a few minutes, but that meeting changed Ahjane’s future. Through all these years, Dr. Duval has been Ahjane’s inspiration to go to law school and become an attorney.
