NSU’s Shepard Broad Law Center to Hold Commencement on May 9
FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla.—The Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University will hold its 2009 commencement ceremony for 228 graduates and their families on Saturday, May 9, at 4 p.m. at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla.
Judge Melanie May will serve as the commencement speaker. Judge May graduated first in her class from the Nova Law Center in 1981 and currently serves on the Fourth District Court of Appeal, a position she has held since 1992 after being appointed by Gov. Jeb Bush.
Active on juvenile and substance abuse issues, Judge May has served on the board of directors for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Corporation since 2003 and previously served as national board chair of the National Association of Drug Court Professionals from 2000-2002.
Judge May remains active at NSU as a member of the Law Center’s board of governors and co-chair of the membership committee.
