NSU’s 10th Annual “Evening Under the Stars” Raises Funds to Help Needy Children Attend Preschool – April 24
Enchanting evening will also benefit early learning programs at the Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies
FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies will host its 10th Annual “Evening Under the Stars” celebration on Friday, April 24 to raise funds for early childhood development programs, and to help needy children attend preschool.
The “Evening Under the Stars” cocktail reception and silent auction begin at 7 p.m., at NSU’s Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale at One East Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. The silent auction will feature one-of-a-kind paintings, inspired by world-renowned artists, which were created by the children who attend the institute’s programs, along with items and services donated by community sponsors.
The festive evening will also feature the rare opportunity to view selections from two extraordinary private collections: Gordon Locksley’s “With You I Want To Live” exhibition, and the art collection of Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz.
Proceeds from “Evening Under the Stars” will benefit the Mailman Segal Institute’s Early Learning Programs’ Scholar Fund. The fund provides financial assistance to families in need who otherwise would be unable to participate in the institute’s preschool, parent/child and infant/toddler programs.
“Evening Under the Stars” is the only major fundraising event for the scholarship fund and this year its organizers hope to raise more than $50,000. Tickets are $75 per person or $125 per couple.
This year’s sponsors include Seas Island Resort, Guy Harvey Enterprises, Publix, Muvico Theaters, New York City Ballet, Rooms to Go and SeaWorld Adventure Park, among others. Refreshments will be provided by Ginger Wine and Spirits, Gold Coast Beverage, and Hugh’s Culinary.
