NSU Work to Preserve Coral Reefs Featured in CBS-12 Story
Once again, the work being done by students, faculty, staff and partners to help protect and revitialize our coral reefs was featured in a TV news story. This time, CBS-12 in West Palm Beach Florida highlighted the plight of our coral reefs and what’s being done to help protect them. The story highlighted what happens when coral reefs die (i.e. impact to the envorinment) as well as what our coral reefs mean to the local economy. Did you know that the Florida Department of Environmental Protection estimates natural reefs in Martin, Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties generate $3.4 billion dollars in sales and income and support. 36,000 jobs in the region each year?
