NSU To Host “A Day For Children” Health Fair on Sept. 8

A Day For Children News ReleaseFORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will again welcome children and their families as the A Day for Children Health Fair celebrates 11 years of service to the community, and Grandparents Day! Children 15 years of age and under (including infants and toddlers) and their families are invited to NSU’s main campus in Davie, 3301 College Ave., on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a fun filled, health conscious day.

NSU’s Health Care Centers will be providing FREE assessments for vision, medical, and dental health as well as speech, behavioral, physical and occupational therapy. Providers, organizations, and companies from all across Broward County including – Florida Blue, Chris Everett Children’s Hospital, Walgreens, Met Life Insurance, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Children’s Services Council of Broward County, Florida Center for Allergy and Asthma, Florida Kid Care, and Special Olympics Broward County are just a few of the many, many organizations that will be on hand to answer questions related to your child’s health and well-being.

Miami Heat player James Jones is scheduled to sign autographs and take pictures with children throughout the day. Born and raised in Miami, Jones is a graduate of American Sr. High School and the University of Miami. In addition, PBS Kids will host TV personality “Miss Rosa”, live at the Miniaci Performing Arts Center at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

A Day For Children will also feature games, a bounce house, and food. The Davie Police Department will provide free fingerprinting and ID cards and the Davie Fire Department will provide free safety and child car seat installation demonstrations. NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library will be on-hand to provide library cards to children and their parents. Children will also have the opportunity to receive FREE haircuts provided by the Jig Saw Hair Salon, bicycle helmets from the Epilepsy Foundation, and amplified hearing devices from the Center for Hearing and Communication on a first come basis.

A Day for Children and all services are completely FREE and open to the public.

No registration is necessary.
