During 2018, an NSU research team led by Nancy Klimas, M.D., was awarded an $8.5 million grant by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) for establishment of the Gulf War Illness National Clical Trials and Interventions Consortium (GWICTIC). The GWICTIC serves as a mechanism for clinical trials based on several years of research and clinical expertise, furthering the understanding and treatment of Gulf War Illness.

With this grant, NSU is entering the second phase of its study. Kristi Krueger from WPLG sat down with Dr. Klimas to talk about her research.
