You may think you know the obvious places that bacteria propagate, for example the soles of your shoes, but what about commonly used public places? Telemundo’s national TV program Al Rojo Vivo is airing a series about bacteria to show what kind of bacteria can be found at public places and how they can affect our health.

Julie Torruellas Garcia, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at NSU’s Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography and her students are being featured on Telemundo Bacteria Series. In the most recent episode Dr. Garcia said that some of the bacteria found were MRSA and E.coli, which is found in foods and the intestines of people and animals.
