NSU Professor Discusses How to Wake Your Child Up the Right Way
Getting enough sleep as a child is a critical component in the early developmental phase. According to Forbes, sleep deprivation can lead to long term ramifications and may even affect brain development. However, waking your child up may not be as easy as anticipated.
Roseanne Lesack Ph.D., BCBA-D, ABPP, director of the child psychology clinic at NSU, spoke with Fatherly Magazine about the right way for parents to go about waking their child up. Lesack suggests for parents to ditch the alarm clock for a cheering smile when starting the day off. Waking up and planning earlier, giving a smooth, stress free transition into the day can benefit children in the way they wake up. Waking up can heavily impact the way a child takes on the day, which overall influences the way they learn and develop.
