NSU Library Exhibit Relates History Through Maps

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

maps image 3
More than 500 years before GPS, cartographers and geographers would painstakingly, by hand, chart roads, rivers and oceans that few had ever traveled. The Discovery of the Americas and the Establishment of the United States, currently on display at Nova Southeastern University’s Alvin Sherman Library, gives us a detailed account of how they saw their world.

This unique selection of more than 100 antiquarian maps will be on display through February 1, thanks to local collector and internationally-known businessman Neal Asbury.

asbury-invite-final-512x1024Asbury will present, The Discovery of the Americas and The Founding of the United States, on Wednesday, January 24, at 6 p.m. at the NSU library on the main campus in Davie. There will be a reception and exhibit viewing from 6 – 7 p.m., followed by Asbury’s colorful commentary.

Asbury serves as the founder and CEO of The Legacy Companies headquartered in Weston, Florida. Legacy consists of 16 owned brands that have a history in housewares or commercial food service equipment.  Products are distributed in over 130 countries around the world.  He shares his business expertise weekly on the nationally syndicated talk radio show, “Neal Asbury’s Made in America,” produced by Radio America.

Asbury has published over 400 articles on global trade issues, writes a weekly column for Newsmax and has published a book, Conscientious Equity: An American Entrepreneur’s Solution to the World’s Greatest Problems. His blog www.conscientiousequity.com  is a favorite online destination for those who share his passion for small business entrepreneurship and the benefits of expanding the United States’ role in global commerce.

Asbury was also the proud recipient of the coveted United States National Champion Exporter of the Year award in 2008 and continues to be recognized nationally and internationally for his support of U.S. exports and fair trade. He is chairman and a founding faculty member of Export University (a collaboration between the District Export Council and the U.S. Department of Commerce) which has been mandated by the White House to be implemented nationally as part of the National Export Initiative (NEI).
