NSU Launches Unique Internet Marketing and Social Networking Course

FORT LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship has developed a new graduate-level course in the Entrepreneurship curriculum that will be available to all students this fall. The new course, titled Internet Marketing and Social Networking, will be offered beginning in October 2011 and is unique among South Florida universities and colleges.

The course is taught by Associate Professor James Barry, D.B.A., who has private sector experience and consults on internet marketing and social networking with local companies. Barry will impart on students an entrepreneurial understanding of the processes, tools and planning steps required to develop enterprise-wide Internet and social media infrastructures that expand customer reach, reinforce brand recognition and manage customer relationships. Students will get hands-on experience launching social CRM solutions, search engine marketing, online advertising and select e-commerce initiatives.

“Time and time again we have heard from students and employers that graduates need a more in-depth understanding of these 21st-century marketing skills, and this course will be sure to make NSU graduates stand out in the crowd,” said Tom Tworoger, D.B.A., associate professor and director of the Huizenga Business School’s Entrepreneurship program. “Social media and e-commerce are driving nearly every facet of business today, so it is imperative that all of our students – and especially young entrepreneurs – leave NSU with a strong foundation in using these skills.”

A primary objective of the course is to acquaint students with the complexity and power of internet marketing and social networking so as to appreciate the resource commitment and decision making process for evaluating inbound marketing infrastructures. The hands-on approach will reinforce this understanding for entrepreneurs seeking firsthand knowledge of blogging, social networking, effective web design system and search engine marketing required for sales generation, branding and customer support.

By the end of the course, students will be acquainted with the tools and financial justifications used to justify the adoption of social business and inbound marketing infrastructures.
