NSU to Induct Three Business Leaders into Entrepreneur Hall of Fame
Entrepreneur Hall of Fame to Celebrate its 20th Year on April 15
FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship will induct three local business leaders – Jeffrey L. Berkowitz, Miles Austin Forman and James E. McDonnell IV – into its Entrepreneur Hall of Fame on April 15. The induction ceremony will be held at the Signature Grand in Davie beginning at 6 p.m. Attendance is by invitation only.
Berkowitz is the president and founder of Berkowitz Development Group, Inc., a retail development company headquartered in Coconut Grove, Fla. Since its founding in 1978, the company has completed project totaling more than 1,500,000 square feet of retail and is recognized as one of the pre-eminent retail developers in Miami-Dade County. Projects developed by Berkowitz Development Group in Miami-Dade include the Kendall Village Center, Kendallgate Shopping Center, Aventura Commons and the Dadeland Station Shopping Center.
Forman, a real estate developer, created Westlawn Memorial Gardens cemetery in Davie in 1971. Now known as Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens South, the cemetery is home to the Shrine of Light Mausoleum, a well known landmark. Forman also purchased other private cemeteries and bought and sold distressed properties to grow his real estate holdings. He is also president of American Marketing and Management.
McDonnell is the creator of numerous innovative businesses. Among the companies McDonnell has founded are PRO-LAB, the top selling brand of home safety test kits, Windmill Advertising Group, which won 12 Addy awards in the 2007 Ft. Lauderdale Advertising Federation competition, and American Restoration Services, the nation’s leader in the water removal and restoration industry. He is also the CEO of wine boutique Libation, full-service plumbing company Plumbing by Bob, STOP Burgers and Fries, East City Grill lounge and restaurant, and his newest adventure, Fresh restaurant and nightclub.
Celebrating its 20th year, NSU’s Entrepreneur Hall of Fame honors the achievements of outstanding business people in the South Florida community. The selection committee for this prestigious honor is comprised of current Hall of Fame members. Other members of the Hall of Fame include John “Jack” Abdo; Joseph Amaturo; Rick Case; Carl DeSantis; James Dunn; Arthur J. Falcone; Steven Halmos; Whit Hudson; H. Banks; Shaun M. Davis; and Jordan Zimmerman.
