NSU Hosts Local High School Students for Ice Cream Entrepreneurship Program

For most students, summer means taking a break from school work and relaxing by the water during lazy, hot days. But about 20 local high school students seeking to gain an edge opted to head back to the classroom to participate in NSU’s Ice Cream Entrepreneurship Program, a creative writing and business development experience.

Held from July 16 through July 20 and coinciding with National Ice Cream Month, the students worked in teams to create and launch a new ice cream flavor in partnership with Yo Mama’s Ice Cream shop of Fort Lauderdale. The Department of Writing and Communications at NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS) created the free program as a community-led, experiential learning opportunity for high school students interested in the field of communications.
