NSU fellowship helps train prison doctors (Associated Press)

David Thomas, a professor at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in Davie , helped develop the college’s two-year fellowship for doctors who are considering working in prison medicine, one of few such programs in the country. The program’s goal is to prepare doctors who have completed their residencies for handling the myriad ailments that appear in the prison population, difficult patients and a system where security is as important as treatment.
