Nova Southeastern University Expands Higher Education Center in Tampa Bay New Facility to Create 30 New Jobs and More Educational Degree Programs

TAMPA, Fla.– Nova Southeastern University is expanding its academic operations in the Tampa Bay area, creating at least 30 new jobs and more degree programs for 2,000 students.

NSU will hold a grand opening ceremony on Thursday, June 4 to celebrate the opening of its 81,500-square-foot Tampa Student Educational Center at the Sabal Park Corporate Center off Interstate 75. The ceremony will run between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The center will offer degree programs for 2,000 students. Some of those degrees include the brand new anesthesiologist assistant program, which will be the first program of its kind in the Tampa Bay area. The 27-month program is expected to launch with 26 students.

NSU’s Tampa Student Educational Center will also offer 18 degree programs in business, education, psychology, speech-language pathology, leadership, early childhood education, human resource management, among others.

Additionally, the center will create new jobs in teaching, operations and management. It is expected to generate $12 million in economic impact to Tampa Bay’s economy.

The facility is equipped with high-tech classrooms with videoconferencing capabilities, advanced healthcare simulation laboratories with robotic mannequins, computer labs, wireless Internet connection throughout the facility, a multipurpose room, and other amenities.

Nova Southeastern University has been offering educational degree-programs in the Tampa Bay area for more than 30 years. Prior to moving to its current facility, NSU was located in a 41,179-square-foot section of the Sabal Park Plaza Building.

Speakers at the June 4 grand opening ceremony will include Ray Ferrero Jr., J.D., president of Nova Southeastern University; George Hanbury II, Ph.D., NSU executive vice president and COO; Rachel Burgin, Republican state representative from Brandon; Craig Johnson, Hillsborough Community College vice president of academic affairs; Susie Valdes, member of the Hillsborough County School Board; Tammy Bracewell, president and CEO of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce; and Michelle Todd, special assistant to the Gov. Charlie Crist.
