NSU Collaborates with South Florida Accelerator to Commercialize Technology

FORT LAUDERDALE/DAVIE, FLThe South Florida Accelerator (TSFA) and Nova Southeastern University (NSU) announced plans to form new startup companies from NSU’s research and development (R&D) pipeline.

“We are excited to be working with researchers and leaders at NSU’s Center for Collaborative Research (CCR),” said Christopher Malter, co-founder and managing director, TSFA.  “NSU is an uncontested leader in the healthcare R&D sector, and we are ecstatic to have the opportunity to collaborate with them.”

Under the direction of H. Thomas Temple, M.D., and Richard Jove, Ph.D., NSU has assembled many of the world’s prominent scientists in the CCR.

This collaboration will further support the ongoing growth of South Florida’s innovation ecosystem.

“NSU is pleased to collaborate with The South Florida Accelerator to cultivate tech growth and innovation,” said Dr. Temple, NSU senior vice president of translational research and economic development.  “By working with organizations like TSFA, we are fostering the development of technologies and leading researchers that will lead to amazing transformations in the Florida technology space.”

Located adjacent to the university’s Health Professions Division complex on NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus, the 215,000-sq.-ft., six-story CCR is equipped with wet and dry labs; state-of-the-art research equipment, including access to a high-performance computing environment; and other resources, such as Florida LambdaRail, a high-speed broadband service delivery network with connectivity throughout the nation.

As an innovation aggregator facilitating ideation in life sciences, big data, human capital enterprise, and FinTech, The South Florida Accelerator’s largest differentiator regionally is their strategic partnerships, which at the very onset provide many of its startups the ability to create IP that can be off-ramped rapidly for acquisition and/or carry thru to commercial viability.

TSFA’s mission is to identify visionary entrepreneurs and facilitate ideation by providing a clear path to success through a global ecosystem of innovation resources.
