Nova Southeastern University Announces 8th Annual Humanitarian of the Year Award
Ft. Lauderdale (Davie), Fla. – The Center for Psychological Studies (CPS) at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will honor Alan and Susie Levan at the 8th Annual Humanitarian of the Year Award on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Ft. Lauderdale Grande Hotel. A reception begins at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner and award ceremony at 7:00 p.m.
Each year, CPS presents the Humanitarian of the Year Award to individuals who have significantly contributed to our community in the areas of education, health care, family life, the welfare of others and public safety.
Alan Levan is the chairman of several NYSE companies including BankAtlantic Bancorp, the largest Florida based bank with 100 branches and $6 billion in assets. In 1994, Levan established the BankAtlantic Foundation to support a wide array of activities in the arts, education, social welfare, community and economic development. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $6 million to charitable organizations throughout the state of Florida. Levan is also a member of the NSU Board of Trustees.
Susie Levan is founder, unpaid CEO and Board Chairwoman of the Work-Life Balance Institute for Women. The Institute publishes Balance magazine, an eight year old lifestyle magazine published quarterly. Levan’s professional career includes 16 years in real estate syndication. Levan has been honored several times for her community endeavors.
