Nova Southeastern University’s 2016 Commencement Season is Underway

Multiple Ceremonies to Recognize Nearly 7,500 Graduates

FORT LAUDERDALE/DAVIE, Fla. – It’s that time of year again – time for students to walk across the stage, flip their tassels and transition from being students to being alumni!

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will host its 2016 Commencement ceremonies on its Fort Lauderdale/Davie campus in the Arena at the Don Taft University Center (3301 College Ave., Fort Lauderdale).

The first celebration of academic achievement begins Thursday, May 12 for students at NSU’s Shepard Broad College of Law.  The last ceremony will be held Friday, Aug. 19 for NSU’s College of Nursing and NSU’s College of Health Care Sciences. Ceremony participants represent students from NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie campus, regional campuses, and online. NSU will award baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral degrees to students in a wide range of fields, including business, counseling, computer and information sciences, education, osteopathic medicine, optometry, pharmacy, dentistry, various other health professions, law, marine sciences, psychology, human services, and other social sciences. Approximately 7,500 students will receive their degrees and move on to continue their journey to realize their potential.

Over the next few weeks, students, alumni, faculty, staff, and guests will hear commencement addresses from inspirational speakers* such as attorney and President of the Florida Bar Association Ramon A. Abadin (Thursday, May 12), the Honorable Edward L. Artau (NSU alumnus, Friday, May 13), U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch (Friday, May 20), Florida Sen. Joe Negron (Friday, May 20), Jack-in-the-Box Chairman and CEO Leonard A. Comma (NSU alumnus, Friday, June 10), NSU Trustee Steven J. Halmos (Friday, June 10), and Indian-American socio-political activist Arun Gandhi (Friday, June 17).

Tickets are not required, but seating is limited and large groups of guests wishing to sit together should arrive early.

Commencement guests will also have the opportunity to view a live telecast of the ceremony via closed circuit television at three on-campus locations. All NSU Commencement ceremonies will also be live-streamed in real time. Visit the NSU Commencement home page and click on the “Commencement Ceremony Live” icon for information and access.

The Don Taft University Center on NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie campus provides handicap-accessible parking spaces on each level of the public parking garage. Golf carts will be in operation before and after the ceremony to assist with transportation of special-needs guests from the parking garage to the Arena. Commencement guests using wheelchairs can enter and exit the Arena through either the north or east lobbies of the venue.
