Nova Southeastern University Welcomes Ofer Bavly Israeli Consulate General to Florida and Puerto Rico
FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will host Ofer Bavly, Consul General of Israel to Florida and Puerto Rico, Monday, June 29 at 6 p.m.
Mr. Bavly will present a lecture to students, faculty and staff on current events affecting the state of Israel.
Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Mr. Ofer Bavly holds a Bachelor of Arts (International Relations & Middle Eastern Studies) from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Mr. Bavly holds the rank of Captain in the Israel Defense Forces, having served from 1983 to 1987. He joined the Foreign Ministry in 1991 and has served in Israel’s Embassies in Madrid and Rome.
In 2005 Mr. Bavly was appointed Policy Advisor to the Foreign Minister of Israel. In 2006, he was appointed Counselor in the Foreign Ministry’s North America Division.
In August 2007 Mr. Bavly was appointed Consul General of Israel to Florida and Puerto Rico.
Mr. Bavly is fluent in Hebrew, English, French, Spanish, Italian and Arabic and speaks basic German. He is married to Ayala and they have 3 children.
The lecture which is free and open to the public, will take place at NSU’s Shepard Broad Law School, second floor lecture hall, located on the main campus at- 3301 College Ave, Davie, 33314.
