Nova Southeastern University Uses Art Therapy to Help Patients Regain Speech
Nova Southeastern University’s Speech Language Pathology center is using art therapy to help patients regain speech after a stroke and other conditions, such as aphasia, that affect their ability to speak.
In a recent interview with ABC Local 10, Wren S. Newman, SLP.D., CCC-SLP, chair and assistant professor, Speech Language Pathology, NSU’s Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences, said “We see that there’s more spontaneous language, there is also a feeling better about oneself which is key to improving your whole being and we’re seeing it through these art events.”
