Nova Southeastern University Offers Reduced Tuition to Assist Veterans in Receiving College Education

University Commits Funds Through Veterans Yellow Ribbon Campaign

FT. LAUDERDALE (DAVIE), FLA. – Nova Southeastern University (NSU) President Ray Ferrero, Jr., has announced the university’s participation in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Yellow Ribbon Program. Under this program, eligible veterans can attend NSU at a significantly reduced cost.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, in which colleges and universities can voluntarily enter into an agreement with the VA to offer reduced tuition and fees to veterans who served in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Specifically, eligible veterans must have served three years on active duty or at least 30 continuous days before being discharged for service-related injuries since the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Centers.

“Nova Southeastern University is proud to participate in the Yellow Ribbon campaign,” said Ferrero, who is also a retired U.S. Marine captain. “NSU is committed to assisting veterans and their family members with opportunities to receive a quality education.”

Eligible veterans who enroll at NSU in undergraduate programs may receive up to $3,500 annually in scholarship funds, which will be matched 100 percent by the VA, totaling up to $7,000 annually in scholarship funds. Graduate (master’s and doctoral) and first-professional students may receive up to $2,000 annually in scholarship funds, again, being matched 100 percent by the VA, totaling up to $4,000 annually in scholarship funds. Scholarships are limited and will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis.
