Nova Southeastern University Offering a Myriad of Summer Camps for 2015

It’s that time again – summer break! Some families will hit the road to take a family vacation a-la Clark Griswold. For others, it means heading to the local beach to spend some lazy days soaking up the sun’s rays. Yet for others, it’s when students head to summer camp.

To that end, Nova Southeastern University will be offering a wide variety of educational and athletic camps for 2015. Below is information for families interested in having their children attend an NSU summer camp (whenever possible, website links are provided for more information):

 

University School is offering its annual summer camp, Camp Nova
Open to public and private school students in grades K-11 (activities for all ages, from theatre to basketball to robotics to arts & crafts)
Sessions: June 8-19; June 22-July 2; July 6-17; July 20-31
– Cost: range from $575 (two-week session) to $2,060 (eight- week session); before and after care available for additional cost

Grande Oaks Golf Academy is offering its Summer Junior Golf Camp
Hours and Dates: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., June 9 through August 21
Location: Grande Oaks Golf Club; Camp includes instruction in all facets of the game (i.e. full swing, short game and more) as well as video analysis and contests.
Cost: $1,850 full summer; $1,150 half summer; $400 weekly.

NSU Division of Student Affairs is offering:
NSU Multimedia Camp (for high school students)

  • Dates: Monday, July 13 – Thursday, July 16
  • Hours: Residential (NSU Residence Hall) – by 10 a.m. July 13, Pick Up – by 3 p.m. July 16; Commuter – July 13 by 1 p.m., pick up by 6 p.m.; July 14-15 by 8:30 a.m., pick up by 6 p.m.; July 16 by 8:30 a.m., pick up by 3 p.m.
  • Cost: $399 (residential, includes tuition, room, meals, activities;) $315 (commuter, includes tuition, meals, activities)

NSU Wellness Camp (for girls ages 12-14)

  • Dates: Monday, June 8 – Fri., June 19
  • Hours: Before Care 7:30 -9 a.m.; Camp 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; After Care 4-5:30 p.m.
  • Cost: $525 for two-week camp; $50 for two-week before care; $50 for two-week after-care

Mailman Segal Center for Human Development is offering Summer Exploration Camp for children ages 2-5:
Session 1: June 8-26; Session 2: June 29 – July 17 (closed July 4); Session 3: July 20-Aug. 7
Hours of Operation (Mon. – Fri.): 7:15 a.m. – 6 p.m. (extended day;) 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Full Day;) 8:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. (Half Day.) Extended Camp Hours available (7:15 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. or 3-6 p.m.)
Costs: $715 – $975 per session, depending on extended, full or half day. Additional cost for extended camp hours. Discount of 5% for second child enrolled.
Activities: age-appropriate, including: science, cooking, art and music with targeted learning objectives. Specially designed “Exploration Camp” for students entering kindergarten in 2015 that helps build math, science and reading skills learned in pre-K.

Grades 1-4:
Session 1, Design and Construction; Session 2, Nature and Art; Session 3, Music and Art; Session 4, Sculpture and Science; Session 5, Printmaking and Bookmaking
– Grades 5-8 & 9-12 (middle/high school students select one course per session):
Session 1, Character Design or Drawing and Painting: Fundamentals; Session 2, Drawing and Painting: Portraiture and the Figure, Character Design, Photography or Ceramics; Session 3, Drawing and Painting: Observational or Ceramics; Session 4, Digital Arts, Drawing and Painting: Mixed Media or Fashion Design; Session 5, Drawing and Painting: Collage
Hours of Operation: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Mon. – Fri.
Costs: $450 per session

  • NSU Soccer Day Camp I & Goalkeeper Camp –  June 8-12; | Ages: 5-15 boys and girls
  • NSU Prospect ID Camp – June 15-19 | Ages: 15+ boys only
  • NSU Soccer Day Camp II & Goalkeeper Camp – June 15-19 | Ages: 5-15 boys and girls
  • NSU Soccer Day Camp III & Goalkeeper Camp – June 22-26 | Ages: 5-15 boys and girls
  • NSU Soccer Day Camp IV & Goalkeeper Camp – July 6-10 | Ages: 5-15 boys and girls
  • NSU Soccer Day Camp V & Goalkeeper Camp – July 13-17 | Ages: 5-15 boys and girls
  • NSU Soccer Day Camp VI & Goalkeeper Camp – July 20-24 | Ages: 5-15 boys and girls

Costs range from $249-$299, depending on camp.

 

NSU Sharks Elite ID Clinic (Women’s Soccer)

Cost is $95, with team discount of $15 per player to teams providing 11 or more players attending on the same day.
