Nova Southeastern University Hosts Open House at its Jacksonville Location, With Free Expert-Led Virtual Schooling Seminar

Jacksonville, Fla. — Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will host an Education Expo during its March 10 Open House at its Jacksonville Student Educational Center (SEC).  The Expo will include a free seminar on virtual schooling in Florida.  The Open House and seminar will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

NSU’s Abraham S. Fischler School of Education will present the free seminar led by Marilyn Myers, Ph.D., which  takes participants on a trip through the newest education innovation: online virtual K-12 programs.  The state of Florida has mandated that every school district have at least one virtual school; so this free seminar is a “must attend” for teachers and administrators involved in education.

Myers has served as an educator in Duval County for many years,  as a middle and high school teacher, an assistant principal, a vice principal and as principal in virtual/distance education.  She is currently principal of two schools, Duval Virtual Instruction Academy and Schools for the Future.

Myers received her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Capella University, her Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University and her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Social Studies from the University of North Florida.

“The Open House is a great time to not only learn about virtual education, but also to learn about all the various education programs NSU offers at our Jacksonville location,” said Kathy Sandusky, regional director of NSU’s Jacksonville Student Educational Center.  “Prospective students not only learn about our curriculum but they get to see the state-of-the-art educational facility we have.”

The Open House provides an opportunity to get information about the vast array of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs NSU has to offer.  Program representatives, faculty and staff will be available to answer questions about programs, scholarships, grants, student affairs and financial aid.

The NSU SEC is located at 6675 Corporate Center Parkway, Suite 115, Jacksonville, Florida 32216.  For additional information call 904.245.8910 or e-mail nsu-jacksonville@nova.edu .
