Nova Southeastern University to Host Open House at its Orlando location
Event to Offer Free Grant Writing Workshop
Orlando, Fla — Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will host an Education Expo during its March 3 Open House at its Orlando Student Educational Center (SEC). The Expo will include a grant writing workshop. The Open House and workshop will run from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
NSU’s Abraham Fischler School of Education will present a free grant writing workshop which will be led by Gina Peyton, Ed.D. The workshop will teach participants how to distinguish between different types of grants; identify the various types of sponsors; distinguish between the different type of award mechanisms; understand what the funding search process is and how to begin; identify appropriate research and funding opportunities through use of the Internet and or funding database and reflect on how funding opportunities apply to one’s research interest.
Peyton has been a Program Professor at NSU’s Abraham S. Fischler School of Education since 2006. As a program professor, Peyton teaches for the Master of Science in Leadership degree program, the Doctorate of Education degree program, and is also a dissertation chair.
She has also worked as a grants officer at NSU’s Office of Grants and Contracts from 2002 to 2006. As a grants officer, she assisted faculty and staff with pre-award activities that include preparing proposals and applications for specific competitions, provided technical support in developing project budgets, interpret grant guidelines and Requests for Proposals (RFP) as well as obtained institutional information and assurances as requested by the grant/contract guidelines.
“The Open House is a great time to learn about all the various education programs NSU offers at the Orlando location,” said Michael Daniels Interim Director of NSU’s Orlando Student Educational Center. “Prospective students not only learn about our curriculum but they get to see the state-of-the-art educational facility we have.”
The Open House provides an opportunity to learn about the vast array of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs NSU has to offer. Program representatives will be in attendance as well as faculty and staff to answer questions about programs, scholarships, student affairs and financial aid.
