Nova Southeastern University Celebrates Homecoming 2010 with Tailgate, Raft Races, Carnival & More – Nov. 11 to 13
FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Broward County is bracing for a Shark influx as Nova Southeastern University (NSU) prepares to celebrate its 2010 Homecoming with current NSU Sharks, alumni, faculty and staff preparing for a week full of fun.
The festivities will center on NSU’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams, and will last from Thursday, Nov. 11 to Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010. Highlights include the 5th Annual Homecoming Tailgate, raft races, the annual male beauty pageant, and a new tradition: the Deep Blue Fest carnival.

- 5th Annual Homecoming Tailgate
Date: Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 from noon to 2 p.m.
Location: Shark Fountain, outside the east entrance of the Don Taft University Center
Welcome to a yummy NSU tradition: The Fifth Annual Homecoming Tailgate. Meet NSU athletes, take a picture with Razor the Shark, and shoot some hoops to win a Homecoming shirt. Open to the NSU community.
- “Anything that Floats” Raft Races
Date: Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 from 3 to 6 p.m.
Location: NSU’s Gold Circle Lake
Have you ever seen a pond filled with homemade rafts and students struggling to make them move or even stay afloat? Exhibit your carpentry skills and win money at the annual “Anything That Floats” Raft Race. Whether you compete or cheer for your favorite team, it will be an event you’ll never forget. Registration is required to participate. Open to the public for viewing.
- Flight Deck Follies
Date: Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at 8 p.m.
Location: The Flight Deck at the Don Taft University Center, First Floor
Attention all NSU men: Join us for the annual male beauty pageant. Pull out your fishnet stockings and spritz on the perfume. Come watch NSU guys dressed like NSU gals. Open to the public for viewing.
- Deep Blue Fest
Date: Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 from noon to 4 p.m.
Location: Library Quad
All students are welcome to enjoy the Homecoming 2010 fair, including carnival food and games, live performances, challenges like tug of war and wheel barrel, a petting zoo and more! Open to the NSU community.
- NSU Men’s Basketball vs. Warner University
Date: Friday, Nov.12, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.
Location: The Flight Deck at the Don Taft University Center, First Floor
Watch the NSU men’s basketball team take on Warner University in an exciting game. At halftime, get the first look at the newly crowned 2010 NSU Homecoming Queen and King. Open to the public for viewing.
- Go POSTal at the Flight Deck
Date: Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, after the Homecoming Game
Location: The Flight Deck at the Don Taft University Center, First Floor
Don’t let the fun stop at the court – stop by the Flight Deck for post-game celebrations. Enjoy some food, drinks, and live music with fellow NSU fans! Special Musical Guest: Alexander Star. Open to the NSU community.
- Flight Deck Pre-Game Kick Off
Date: Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Location: The Flight Deck at the Don Taft University Center, First Floor
Searching for NSU spirit? Look no further than the Flight Deck! Get ready to cheer on the NSU women’s basketball team with some food, drinks, and fun before the game. Open to the NSU community.
- Women’s Basketball vs. Northern Kentucky University
Date: Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at 4 p.m.
Location: Don Taft University Center Arena
Put your lungs to good use, and cheer on NSU women’s basketball team as they play against Northern Kentucky University. Go Sharks! Open to the public for viewing.
- SGA Homecoming Party “Escape to Paradise”
Date: Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Location: Exit 66
Bring your best moves and boggie the night away at the annual Homecoming Dance at Exit 66! All graduate and undergraduate students are invited. Tickets are $10 and available for purchase at any Homecoming event. Sponsored by the Undergraduate Student Government Association. Open to the NSU community.
