FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – The Mailman Segal Institute’s Baudhuin Preschool, a school for children with autism, will hold graduation ceremonies Wednesday and Thursday, June 3-4 for students leaving the program to enter kindergarten.

The cap and gown ceremonies begin at 10:00 a.m. each day, at the Mailman Segal Institute on Nova Southeastern University’s main campus at 3310 College Ave in Davie.

Approximately 80 children will graduate from Baudhuin Preschool which is internationally recognized as a model program for children with autism spectrum disorders. The preschool’s Gym will be transformed into an auditorium complete with décor, a stage and video and photo presentations. After the ceremony, the children will return to their classrooms for a farewell celebration with their parents.

On Thursday, June 4, the integrated/VPK classroom will have their graduation, followed by a special performance for their families in the classroom.

Children graduate from Baudhuin with an individualized transition plan put into place by a team of professionals, including personnel from the Baudhuin Preschool, representatives from Broward County public schools, and the child’s family members.

Some graduates transition into a typical kindergarten setting with support services in and outside of the classroom and some will become part of specialized autism cluster classrooms in the Broward County Public School system.
