New Jersey Commission Grants Licensure to Nova Southeastern University
NSU Fischler School of Education and Human Services Opens Academic Doors for Educators
FORT LAUDERDALE (DAVIE), FLA. –The Fischler School of Education and Human Services of Nova Southeastern University (NSU), the largest school of education at a not-for-profit accredited university in the United States, has been granted licensure by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education. The licensure allows NSU to offer the Doctor of Education degree program and courses in the State of New Jersey. Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing the institution to offer the Doctor of Education degree at the Commission’s June 27 meeting in Trenton, NJ.
“The Fischler School of Education and Human Services is pleased that the Commission recognizes our commitment to education with the granting of this licensure in New Jersey,” said H. Wells Singleton, Ph.D., Education Dean and Provost for NSU. “Our presence in New Jersey opens existing doors to NSU students throughout the state and surrounding areas. It further extends opportunities to educators whose goals are to pursue a doctoral degree in education.”
NSU’s Fischler School is no stranger to New Jersey. Numerous alumni reside in the state.
The Doctor of Education degree offers students a menu-driven approach to customizing their doctoral degree with nine different concentration options and 12 minors. Areas of study include: educational leadership, health-care education, higher education, human services administration, instructional leadership, instructional technology and distance education, organizational leadership, special education, and speech-language pathology.
Through the degree program, students will have access to flexible curriculum choices and multiple instructional delivery options. There are five main components of the degree that include: core seminars, the concentration, the research elective, the electives and minors, and the applied dissertation. Students may elect to take their core seminars online or at one of our many instructional sites throughout the US. With the approval of the New Jersey licensure, NSU now has the opportunity to provide state-of-the-art courseware and scholarly programming for aspiring students in the state of New Jersey and surrounding areas.
The Fischler School offers diverse programming in education and human services leading to the doctoral degree. The school is now licensed to operate in 23 states, Puerto Rico, and 12 foreign countries. It serves more than 15,000 students annually through its online, onsite and blended distance education delivery method.
